Samuel was born and raised for a part of his life in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a first generation, and his parents and sister came here from Kenya to better their life and education. Samuel has always understood the importance of education because of them. He has lived in Massachusetts and all over Southern California. Since he was in sixth grade he knew he wanted to be a pharmacist. He attended Fisk University for his undergraduate as a Chemistry major. He enjoyed his time at Fisk and enjoyed the opportunities he was given. He met with a UCLA SPUR recruiter who told him about the UCLA-HBCU program. He applied, got accepted and had the opportunity to work with Dr. Paul and Dr. Nichols in UCLA. The research was new and exciting for Samuel and he had great mentors including Courtney and Emily who helped him carry out his research. He was able to learn so much and work with like-minded individuals. Samuel is now accepted to pharmacy school and is currently pursuing his dream of being a pharmacist!
