UCLA celebrated its 12thannual Brain Awareness Week this year (March 15-19). Around 400 elementary and middle school children from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) participated in the virtual event which included a number of exciting neuroscience presentations including Neurodiversity, Illusions, Sleep and Dreams and Neurotechnology. The Brain Research Institute (BRI), along with the University of California (USC), co-hosted the 2021 Los Angeles Virtual Brain Bee Competition on Saturday, January 30 2021. Around 65 high school students participated in the competition and showcased their neuroscience knowledge. The BRI gave away awards to the top five winners. The event also included educational activities for the students including a series of interactive neuroscience presentations, a talk on COVID by Dr. Jason Hinman and a career panel.
